Three major civil rights groups have joined together with American Urban Radio Networks (AURN), the largest network reaching urban America, to restore Haiti after the devastating earthquake. Entitled “Restoration Haiti”, AURN is partnering with The Institute of the Black World 21st Century's Haiti Relief Fund, The National Urban League, and Coalition on Black Civic Participation.
"Over the years we've worked individually with each of these groups to help improve the lives of those in need" said Jerry Lopes, President of Program Operations and Affiliations for American Urban Radio Networks. "We’re proud that we could be part of this collaboration helping Haiti at its greatest moment of need".
"Long after the mainstream networks have ceased to provide consistent news the recovery and reconstruction effort in Haiti, we can count on the American Urban Radio Networks to continue to tell the story. Through the collaboration with the Haiti Support Project's Haiti Relief Fund, the information received by way of news updates, the Bev Smith Show and other programs on AURN will translate into concrete support for grassroots organizations on the ground as they strive to rebuild their country."
